So it seems that everyone should do this right? Well I haven't reviewed any of these games, at least not yet. So how this is going to work is I'll tell you which game I've picked, give a short synopsis for why I liked said game and then move on to the next pick. So why a top twelve list? Because I'm a little bitch and couldn't knock it down to ten. Also it doesn't hurt to be different so these are my Top 12 Best Games of 2018!

Number Twelve: Ni no Kuni II: Revenant Kingdom
|
So after reviewing
Ni no Kuni 1 not too long ago and really enjoying it. I was looking forward to playing it's sequel, and while
Ni no Kuni II isn't quite as good as its predecessor. I still really enjoyed my time here. The gameplay is still satisfying as ever once you've got it down. It's story nice and it's fun to see what happens next, it's characters likeable though not as memorable to me as some from the first game. It's a game, a tale and world I've found myself recommending countless times so it definitely deserves a spot here.

Number Eleven: Dragon Ball FighterZ |
I fucking LOVE Dragon Ball Z! So when I heard that a new game was coming out, I was ecstatic. Course, I get excited for every Dragon Ball game because I'm a dirty. dirty fanbird. But now I had reason to be truly excited, Arc System knows their shit, and this game turned out awesome! What keeps it from being higher are three things. The lackluster number of fighters bummed me out. The painfully terrible story mode, and myself being a fan of 3D fighting games more than these 2D fighters. Still that doesn't take away from how oragasmic this game is to look at, and just how good of a fighting game it is. Congratulations DBZ.

Number Ten: Spyro Reignited Trilogy |
JESUS CHRIST THIS GAME IS SO FUCKING PRETTY!!!!! *Ahem* I never played much of the orange marsupial growing up, so when the N. Sane Trilogy came out I was happy to see it. Nice to see Crash back and was happy for my friends and fans of the guy. But I waited, and listened and when Crash was doing really well. I asked for it, many did and now it's here, and I made my pants pregnant. I fucking LOVE this game, but a couple things hold it back. Some of the voice acting bugs me, motion blur can be a problem, god forbid motion sickness what the hell. Also it's not higher up the list because technically it's a re-release, a remastered, built from the ground up re-release. But a re-release nonetheless. So welcome home Spyro, hope to see another good game from you buddy.

Number Nine: Octopath Traveler |
Fuck I love Role-playing games, and this is a good one. That pretty much explains why I love it. I love how this game looks, yes I might talk about the look of these games in every spot what of it?!
The replayability of this game cannot be understated, I don't go back and replay games that much anymore, but this is one I've gone back to a few times. Hell it's partly responsible for why some of my reviews are late. It's a damn good game and anyone with a Nintendo Switch should play it. Or just become damn good friends with someone who does.
|
Number Eight: Dead Cells |
Goddamn this game is gorgeous too! Metroidvania is not a genre of game I really get into very often, which is probably why this game isn't higher up. But Dead Cells is a testament to how good and addicting these style of games can be. I'm gonna go play it again as soon as I'm done writing this and that itch to have a game in your hands throughout the day is something I rarely feel these days. Oh and Fuck Filip Miucin. Next game!
|
Number Seven: Bloostained: Curse of the Moon |
Yeah I know I said Metroidvania isn't usually my style. But I never actually got a chance to try out a Castlevania game. So I was prepared to give this game a try. Now I cannot fucking wait until Koji Iagarashis Ritual of the Night. Goddamn is this game good, it really does have that old NES feel to it. The replayability here is strong too. Deciding whether to have allies, and therefore more playable characters. Or kill them and get new ablities etc. Inti Creates did a fantastic job here, and made a brand new fan out of me.
|
Number Six: Red Dead Redemption II |
Well here is where I get all of the hate! I like this game I really do, I just don't love it like I did RDR1.
The game looks and sounds fantastic, the story is well done and I do really like Arthur. But the little things bother me. This game can be borderline boring sometimes, just riding across the west. All of the detail taking away some of the practicality of the game, and the multiplayer bullshit. I'll say again
Red Dead Redemption II is a really good game. But it's just not my favorite.
|
Number Five: Mega Man 11 |
I have a confession to make. Aside from some time with the Mega Man X Collection on the Nintendo Gamecube, and Mega Man 9 & 10. I haven't played much of the
Mega Man Series. And I urge all of you to get in line and join the millions kicking the shit out of me. Holy shit I love this game let's get this out of the way. It looks great, I love the design of the new Robot Masters. I love the Double Gear system, I love how the story shows us more of Dr. Light and Dr. Wily, just I love this fucking game. If you've never played a Mega Man game or Classic Mega Man definitely pick this up. If you are a fan and haven't played this then what the lemon shooting fuck is the matter with you. I for one am so happy to see the Blue Bomber return. Before promptly disappearing again, damn you Capcom!
|
Number Four: Monster Hunter: World |
This was my first Monster Hunter game. My cousins Zero, and Chrys (using nicknames obvs) had been telling me for years to give this series a shot. then finally my cousin Jhadow bought the game for me and I tried it. I didn't think it would be for me. How wrong I was, this game fucking rocks. The monsters are exhilarating and terrifying. The gear and loot is awesome, the streamlining the game did for newcomers and big doofuses like me, make this an excellent game to start with, and the time I spent with my friends and family in this game hunting Odogarons, mounting Rathaians, and running like a bitch from Deviljho is something that means so much to me.
|
Number Three: Super Smash Bros. Ultimate |
It's fucking Smash Bros. that should explain why this game is here and don't think I don't notice you in two different games in this list Mega Man! Seriously Smash Bros. was obviously going to be in this list and I think this is the best Smash yet. Seriously I want to play it right now and it was so hard to put down for menial things like Sleep and Food and the like. Just like MHW and previous Smash games, the memories I have with my friends make this game and series all the sweeter. Fuck I love this game! Oh and Joker moved it up from 4 to 3. Just being honest here.
|
Number Two: Spider-Man |
Insomniac I wish to suckle your cock, goddman is this game good! It's so beautiful, the voice acting is top nll otch, the combat is amazing. the suits are cool as fuck, AHHHHH!!!!! Finally a Spider-Man game better than Spider-Man 2. Seriosuly, I was so surprised with this one, I honestly didn't expect much from this and I was blown completely out of the fucking water. And that is a wonderful feeling. Not much else I can say without making my laptop sticky so let's leave Peter to grieve and move to our ultimate winner
|
Number One: God of War (Dad of Boi) |
BOI!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Fuck this game is amazing. I love what they've done with Kratos in this game. Character Development is a God of War game! Who'd a thought?! Seriously though this game is great I love the characters. The BOI could've easily been tedious and annoying as hell but on so many levels this game just works and I cannot wait for the sequel.
So that was my list please say horrible things about me in the comment section and have a great holiday.
